Life can be busy when you’re studying, working and just doing life. But all of these things can put a strain on your time. Keep it simple by completing these 6 steps.

Check your eligibility

Want to know what help you can get while you study?

Use our Payment and Service Finder to see which payments and services might be right for you.

Claim a payment

Do you need to submit a claim for a payment?

Skip the queue and claim Youth Allowance or Austudy via your Centrelink online account through myGov. You can claim up to 13 weeks before you start your course or Australian Apprenticeship.

Track your payments

Want to know when you’ll get your payments?

Use your Centrelink online account through myGov to check when you’ll get your payment and how much you’ll get. You can also use the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

Report your income

If you’re working while you study, you need to tell us how much you earn. This is so we can pay you the right amount.

It’s easy to do in your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

Use the employment diary in myGov or the timesheet in the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app to record your earnings.

Make sure you report on time so your payment isn’t late.

Update your details

Picked up a few extra shifts at work? You need to let us know.

You need to tell us about any changes to your circumstances.

It’s easy to update your details online in your Centrelink online account through myGov. You can also do it using the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

Update us online if any of the following happens:

  • you change address
  • you’re leaving the country to study or travel
  • you get a job
  • you change courses or study load
  • you finish studying.

Ask us questions

Connect with us on  Student Update on Facebook or  Twitter. We post information about payments and services and share tips and news.

You can also ask questions. Keep in mind, you shouldn’t share your personal details in public on social media.

Upload documents

Have documents you need to show us?

You can upload an image of your pay slips, study details and academic transcripts. Upload documents using your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

We’ve made it even faster and easier, with improvements like being able to upload larger files.
