An update on the online income compliance program
19 November 2019
We’re changing how we use details from the Australian Taxation Office in online income compliance reviews.
We’ll write to you if you’ve had an online income compliance review where we used only income averaging in our assessment. If your review outcome was a debt, we’ll include advice on freezing your repayment arrangements while we reassess your case.
Online income compliance reviews
At times we check your employment income is correct to make sure you get the right payment amount. We use income information from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other third parties as part of this process.
We’ll contact you if the income details we get from the ATO are different to the details you gave us.
We may have asked you to check and update your past employment income. If you didn’t contact us to tell us the exact dates you worked and the amounts you earned, we may have used information the ATO told us. This includes the income you told the ATO you earned, and the dates the ATO told us.
You don’t need to do anything. We’ll write to you to let you know if you’re affected.
You can call 1800 061 838 if you need further assistance.
You can ask us to have another look at our decision about your debt at any time, and give us new information.

This Stay Smart Online Week, take control of your online identity.
We close over the Christmas and New Year holidays and we want to help you plan so you still get paid.
