We have started balancing your family assistance payments
6 August 2019
We have information about how we balance payments available in different languages.
After the end of the financial year we balance Family Tax Benefit (FTB) and Child Care Subsidy (CCS) payments.
This is the first time we’re balancing CCS, so it may take us longer to do when compared to FTB.
To balance your payments, we compare your and your partner’s income estimate with your actual income. We also compare how much FTB and CCS you got with how much you are eligible for. When we do this, we consider changes to your circumstances during the financial year as well.

Our translations can also help you understand the results of balancing.
If you did not get enough FTB or CCS, we will pay any outstanding amount when we balance your payments. We call this a top up.
If you got too much FTB or CCS, you may owe us money, which you will have to pay back.
What you need to do depends on your circumstances. You can use the what families need to do at tax time tool to check what you need to do.
