We’re starting to balance your child care fee assistance!

23 July 2018

We might need information from you to do this.

If you only received Child Care Rebate

You don’t need to do anything. We’ll balance your child care fee assistance automatically.

If you received Child Care Benefit

Before we can balance your child care fee assistance, we’ll need to know your income details for 2017-18. If you’ve got a partner, we’ll need to know their income details too. This means you’ll need to:

  • lodge a tax return with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), or
  • tell us that you don’t need to lodge a tax return

You can use the do I need to lodge a tax return tool on the ATO website to check if you need to lodge.

Your Child Care Rebate will be balanced at the same time as your Child Care Benefit.

Once we balance your payments, we’ll send you a letter or online letter to let you know the outcome.

The 2017-18 financial year is the last time we’ll balance Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate payments. These payments have now stopped and the new Child Care Subsidy has started.
