What to do if we ask for your parents’ income details

3 September 2018

If you get dependant Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY Living Allowance, we might send you a letter asking for these details.

When we’ll ask for your parental income details

You’ll get the letter in September or October.

If you don’t get a letter, you don’t need to do anything. We’ve already got all the information we need.

Why we need them

We use your parents’ or guardians’ income every year to check:

  • you’re still eligible for your payment, and
  • we’re paying you the right amount

How to give them to us

Ask your parents or guardians to follow the instructions in your letter. This is the easiest way to give us the information.

What happens if you don’t give them to us

If we don’t get your parental income details by the due date in your letter, we’ll stop your payment.

Where to get more information

Do the parental income test reassessment if you got the letter.
