Centrelink online account help - Add new study details

Instructions on how to add new study details for Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY and Pensioner Education Supplement.

Step 1: get started

If you're not already in your Centrelink online account, sign into myGov and access your account.

From the MENU on your homepage, select Study Details. Then select View/Update Study Details.

Or, select My profile from your homepage.

If you need help, select the help text or question mark icon to access the help menu.

From the Study tile, select Check and confirm your course details.

Step 2: add new course

Select Add a new course.

On the next page, tell us if you know the full details of your new course. If you only know the start date, select I only know the start date of my course (I intend to study in the future). Then, select the calendar icon and enter your course Start date. Select Next and go to Step 3.

Or, if you know the full details, select I know the full details of my new course.

Enter the details of your new course, then select Next.

The end date is when you expect to finish your course. This will be the date of your final exam at the end of your course. If your course end date changes before then, you’ll need to tell us.

If you need help, select the links.

Select:

  • Back, if you need to change any details
  • Cancel, if you don’t want to continue or need to start again

Tell us the start date of your study period and study load, then select Next. The study load information we ask for will depend on your situation.

If you’re eligible, we’ll ask if you want to apply for a Student Start-up Loan.

Select the:

  • tick, to tell us you want to accept the loan amount
  • cross, to tell us you don’t want to accept the loan amount

Then select Next.

Step 3: review and submit

We’ll give you a summary of the details you’ve told us about. Read the information and make sure it’s correct.

Select:

  • Back, if you need to make any changes
  • Cancel, if you don’t want to continue or need to start again

If all the details are correct, read the declaration. If you understand and agree with the declaration, select I declare that: then select Submit.

Step 4: get your receipt

We’ll give you a receipt when you submit your update. Please make a note of the Receipt ID for your records.

We’ll contact you if we need any more information.

Select Information you have provided to view a summary of the details you’ve given us.

Select Return Home to go back to the Study details page.

From the Study details page, select Home to go back to your homepage.

Step 5: sign out

From your homepage you can complete other transactions or select the myGov icon to return to myGov.

For your privacy and security, sign out when you've finished using your myGov account.

If you haven't signed in through myGov, select Logout.
