Centrelink online account help - Add new study details

Instructions on how to add new study details for Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY and Pensioner Education Supplement.

Step 1: get started

Sign into myGov and select Centrelink.

Select MENU from your homepage.

Select My Details, followed by Personal and contact details, and Manage study details.

Your study details will show on the Study details page.

If you need help, select the question mark icon.

Step 2: add new course

Select Add a new course.

Tell us if you know the full details of your new course. If you only know the start date, select I only know the start date of my course (I intend to study in the future). Then, select the calendar icon and enter your course Start date. Select Next and go to Step 3.

Or, if you know the full details, select I know the full details of my new course.

Enter the details of your new course, then select Next.

The end date is when you expect to finish your course. This will be the date of your final exam at the end of your course. If your course end date changes before then, you’ll need to tell us.

If you need help, select the links.

Select either:

  • Back, if you need to change any details
  • Cancel, if you don’t want to continue or need to start again.

Tell us the start date of your study period and study load, then select Next. The study load information we ask for will depend on your situation.

If you’re eligible, we’ll ask if you want to apply for a Student Start-up Loan.

Select Your decision and apply for or decline a Student Start-up Loan. Then select Next.

Step 3: review and submit

We’ll summarise the details you’ve told us. Read the information and make sure it’s correct.

If all the details are correct, read the declaration. If you understand and agree with the declaration, select I declare that: then select Submit.

Select either:

  • Back, if you need to make any changes
  • Cancel, if you don’t want to continue or need to start again.

Step 4: get your receipt

We’ll give you a receipt to let you know your update has been submitted successfully. Please make a note of the Receipt ID for your records.

We’ll contact you if we need any more information.

Select:

  • Information you have provided, to view a summary of the details you’ve given us
  • Return Home, to go back to your online account homepage

Select Home to go back to your homepage.

Step 5: sign out

From your homepage you can complete other transactions or select the myGov icon to return to myGov.

For your privacy and security, sign out when you've finished using your myGov account.
