Child Support online account help - Advise name change

You can tell us about a name change, your child’s marriage, or the death of a child in your care using your Child Support online account.

 

Step 1: sign in

Once you have signed in to myGov and selected your Child Support online account, you can then access the full menu options.

Step 2: select menu item

Select the Personal details menu item, then select Advise name change/child’s marriage/death.

Step 3: advise name change / child's marriage / death

Once you have selected the correct menu option, you will then be asked to select which changes you are advising of. Your options include:

  • Name change, if you have changed your name
  • Child's marriage, if a child in your care is now married
  • Death, if a child in your care or the other parent has passed away

Once you have selected the change you'd like to make, an information box will be displayed to tell you that we will contact you to confirm the details provided.

Select the changes that you are advising by selecting the corresponding box.

You can make more than one update by selecting multiple boxes.

Your options include:

  • Name change, if you have changed your name
  • Child's marriage, if a child in your care is now married
  • Death, if a child in your care or the other parent has passed away

Step 4: answer questions

We will ask you some questions to ensure we get the right information. The questions we ask vary depending on the changes you are making.

This is an example of the questions that will appear if you select the Advise a name change option.

Enter the updated information in the required fields.

If you make a mistake, select Reset Form to clear your responses and start again.

You can cancel at any time by selecting Cancel. This returns you to your Child Support online account home page.

Select SUBMIT once you have entered all of your updates.

Step 5: details received

A confirmation page lets you know your update has been received.

You can print this page by selecting Print. You are unable to view this information after you leave this page.

Step 6: home page

You can return to your Child Support online account home page by selecting Home.

Step 7: sign out

Once you are back on the home page, you can complete other transactions or return to your myGov account.

Remember, for your privacy and security, always ensure that you ‘sign out’ when you have finished using your myGov account.
