myGov help - Set up the myGov Access app

How to use and set up the myGov Access app.

The myGov Access app creates codes. You use these codes to sign in to your myGov account.

You can sign in to your myGov account through the myGov website. You cannot sign in to myGov through the myGov Access app.

If you can’t get SMS codes to sign in to myGov, you can get codes from myGov Access instead. This is useful if you’re travelling overseas or have limited mobile reception.

Before you download the app

If you use myGov Access codes, you won’t be able to sign in to your myGov account if you:

  • delete the app from your device
  • lose your device with the app installed
  • get a new device and don’t update your myGov Account settings first.

You should set up a back-up sign in option so you can still sign in to myGov.

If you don’t have a back-up sign in option, call the myGov help desk to create a new myGov account.

Using the app if you’re travelling overseas

Before you travel overseas, download and set up the myGov Access app.
