myGov help - Update your mobile number to get a text message code

Instructions on updating the mobile number registered to your myGov account, if you sign in with a text message code.

 

Use these instructions if you can’t get your text message code because you’ve changed your mobile number.

You’ll need access to your email registered with your myGov account.

Step 1: sign in

Go to myGov. Enter your myGov Username or Email and Password, then select Sign in.

Select I did not receive my code.

Select update your account with a new mobile number.

We’ll send you an email with a verification code. Enter the Code and select Next.

If you get an email or text from us but didn’t request to change your mobile number, call us immediately.

Enter your new Mobile number and select Next.

We’ll send you a text message code to your new mobile number.

Enter the text message Code and select Next.

You’re now signed in to your myGov account and you’ve updated your mobile number.

We’ll send you an email plus a text message to your old number to confirm we’ve updated your mobile. If you haven’t changed your mobile number, call us immediately.

Step 2: update your new mobile number for Inbox notifications

Update your mobile details to get your Inbox notification text messages.

Select Account settings. This will take you to the Account settings page where you can update a range of items.

Scroll down to General settings and select Inbox notifications.

Select Mobile and enter your new number, then select Next.

We’ll send a security code to the new mobile number.

Enter the Code, then select Confirm to go back to the Account settings page.

You’ve updated your mobile number.

We’ll send you a text message if you get a new message in your myGov Inbox.

Step 3: update your new mobile number with your linked services

To update your new mobile number with your linked services, scroll down to Update personal details with linked services.

Select Update your details.

Select Update your contact numbers.

Enter your new mobile number and the date you updated your mobile number, select Update.

You’ve now submitted your details. Select Home to return to the homepage.

Step 4: sign out

For your privacy and security, select Sign out when you’ve finished using your myGov account.
