How to apply for Additional Child Care Subsidy Transition to Work.

Check if you’re eligible for this subsidy before you start.

We pay this additional subsidy directly to your child care provider to reduce the fees you pay.

Start your application online

To apply online you need a myGov account with Centrelink linked.

I don’t have a Centrelink online account or a myGov account

If you’ve had a payment or service from us, you can use your Customer Reference Number (CRN). Find this on a letter we’ve sent you and register for a Centrelink online account.

If you don’t know your CRN or you haven't got a payment from us, go to a service centre. You’ll need to take your photo ID and tell us you want to register for a Centrelink online account.

You can then create a myGov account and select Services to link Centrelink.

Provide supporting documents

You’ll need to give us evidence when you apply for Additional Child Care Subsidy Transition to Work.

You may also need to confirm your identity at a service centre.

We’ll tell you what documents we need. You’ll need to provide these within 14 days.

This may include proof of your:

  • job search activities
  • employment
  • registration in a course of education, training or other program
Type of evidence Evidence details
Study – proof of enrolment

It must include:

  • your name
  • the name of the educational institution
  • the course name and qualification level
  • the start and end date of the course, and
  • whether you are full time, part time or your percentage load

Study – proof of progression

It must be:

  • an academic transcript of your results
  • a certificate of attainment, or
  • other official documentation such as a letter from the course provider
If you provide a letter, it needs to confirm completion of the course or modules. It should also detail the course or modules that have been attempted or completed.

Work

It must be a letter from your employer, which includes:

  • your name
  • the name of your employer or the business you own
  • employment or business address and phone number
  • date you started work and the date you will stop work, if applicable
  • your classification level or title
  • whether you are full time, part time or casual
  • the hours you work, and
  • your pay rate

Training

It must be a letter from your apprenticeship or traineeship company or educational institution, which includes:

  • your name
  • the name of the company or institution
  • the course name and qualification level
  • the start and end date of the course, and
  • whether you are full time, part time or your percentage load

Job search

It must be:

  • a record of contact, or
  • copies of correspondence with potential employers
It must also include a list of jobs you have applied for.

Other programs

It must be a document from the provider of the program, which includes:

  • your name
  • the name of the provider
  • the program name and purpose
  • the start and end date of the program, and
  • participation requirements of the program, such as the number of hours you do each week

Submit your application

Online

If you're applying online, you can submit your application and most supporting documents electronically at the end of the process.

Application outcome

We'll tell you if your application is successful. If you're eligible for this subsidy we'll tell you when your subsidy will start.
