Your options and obligations for Carer Allowance.

Change of circumstances
We need to know about changes that could increase, reduce or stop your Carer Allowance or Carer Allowance Health Care Card.
Your relationship status
If you’re a member of a couple, it can affect what payments you can get and your payment rate.
Adjusted taxable income
We use your adjusted taxable income to assess your eligibility for some payments, supplements, support and benefits.
Breaks from caring
You can still get Carer Allowance if someone else provides care while you have a break, or the person you provide care for goes into hospital.
Transfer to Carer Payment adult
When the person you provide care for is almost 16 you can request to transfer to Carer Payment and Carer Allowance for an adult.
From time to time we review Carer Allowance to check for changes in your care responsibilities.
To make sure you’re paid correctly, we may review your income.
If you travel outside Australia
We may pay Carer Allowance if you leave Australia for a short time. You must still meet the Carer Allowance rules at all times.
Someone to deal with us on your behalf
If you want someone else to deal with us, you can authorise them to enquire, act or get payments for you.
How to avoid committing fraud
