You can’t get Newstart Allowance if you have income or assets over a certain amount.

Income limits

When your income reaches these amounts your Newstart payment reduces to zero.

single, 60 years of age or older and have been receiving payment for at least 9 months continuously $1,147.00
single, principal carer, with a dependent child $1,615.50
single principal carer of a dependent child, granted an exemption from mutual obligation requirements $2,055.25
single, 60 years of age or older, principal carer with a dependent child and have been getting payment for at least 9 months continuously $1,631.00
single, with a dependent child but not the principal carer $1,136.67
partnered $970.00

Asset limits

Your payment will be cancelled when your assets are more than the following amounts from 20 September 2018.
