How much you can get

Parental leave pay is currently $695 per week before tax for a maximum of 18 weeks.

When your payment will start

Your start date is the start of your Parental Leave Pay entitlement period. It’s not the date you’ll receive your first payment.

Changing your nominated start date

You can request to change the start date of your Parental Leave Pay period, as long as it hasn’t started.

Going back to work before the end of your leave period

To get Parental Leave Pay you must be on leave and not working from when you become your child's primary carer until your Parental Leave Pay period ends.

Under the Paid Parental Leave scheme you have the option, if you and your employer agree, to keep in touch with your workplace without losing your Parental Leave Pay.
