Medicare online accounts

A secure way for you to complete a range of services with Medicare when and where it suits you.

What you can do

Use your online account to do a range of things 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Update bank account details.
Order a replacement or duplicate Medicare Card.
Get some Medicare letters online.
Manage your online letters preference.
View your Care Plan Access History.

Submit claims for some services.
View, download and print your Medicare Claims History Statements for the last 3 years.

View your Medicare Safety Net balance.
View your Unverified Payments Statement.

View, download or print immunisation history statements for:

  • yourself
  • your child under the age of 14

Register your organ donation decision.
Change your organ donor decision.
Request a new Organ Donor card.

Confirm your or your child’s eligibility and remaining balances.

View your Individual Healthcare Identifier number and history.
View, update or add an alternative name to your Individual Healthcare Identifier or Medicare record.

If you can’t claim your Medicare benefit using your Medicare online account, you can:

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Medicare online account, you must be:

  • enrolled in Medicare
  • 14 or older
  • living in Australia

Register

You must register for a Medicare online account through myGov.

To do this:

  • create a myGov account and link to Medicare - select Services and then Medicare
  • select the option right for you:
    • I have an online account with Medicare
    • I don’t have an online account with Medicare
    • I have a linking code
  • complete the extra information we ask you for

Privacy and security

We keep your personal details secure and value your online security. When you first log in to your Medicare online account, it will show you when it was last accessed and when your address and bank details were last updated. If you think someone else has used or changed your details without your knowledge, contact us.

If you have any privacy issues or concerns with your Medicare online account, contact us. Or you can cancel your Medicare online account any time.

Cancel your Medicare online account

You have 2 options when cancelling your Medicare online account.

Cancel

You can cancel your Medicare online account. You can reactivate it at any time.

  1. While you’re logged on to your Medicare online account, select Support from the main menu and Cancel Medicare online account.
  2. Select your reason for cancelling your account.
  3. Select Cancel my Medicare online account only.

To reactivate your account, you’ll need to re-link to Medicare from your myGov account.

Cancel and prevent access

You can cancel and prevent access to your account. If you choose this option, you can’t reuse it without contacting us.

  1. While you’re logged on to your Medicare online account, select Support and Cancel Medicare online account.
  2. Select your reason for cancelling your account.
  3. Select Cancel and prevent my Medicare online account.

To get access to your account in the future, visit a service centre or call the Medicare general enquiries line.
