About myGov

myGov is a simple and secure way to access government services online with 1 login and 1 password.

If you have a question about using myGov, you can ask the myGov digital assistant (DA). Go to the myGov website, select Ask a question and type your question. The DA will answer your question.

myGov Access app

myGov Access is a secure sign in option for myGov users. The myGov Access app creates a one-time access code on your mobile device. You can use the code from myGov Access instead of the code sent to you as an SMS.

You can use your myGov Access code when you sign in to myGov and access your online accounts for:

  • Centrelink
  • Medicare
  • Child Support.

The myGov Access app is available free from the App Store or Google Plus.

Access if you’re overseas

Create a myGov account before you travel. This will mean you can access your letters and services while you’re away.

You may also need to change your myGov sign in settings before you go. You’ll need to do this if you meet both of these conditions:

  • you use an SMS code to sign in
  • you can’t get SMS messages while you’re away.

If you meet these conditions, you should sign in to myGov with either:

  • the myGov Access app on your device
  • your secret question answers.

Read our online guide to set up myGov Access on your device.

Access if you have poor mobile coverage

You can use the myGov Access app to create a one-time use code to sign in to your account. This means you won’t need the SMS code to sign in. You may find this useful in places with poor mobile phone coverage.

Read our online guide to set up myGov Access on your device.
