Medicare Benefits Schedule - health assessment items - modification - Budget 2015-16

From 1 November 2015, Medicare benefits will no longer be paid for Healthy Kids Checks.

This measure started on 1 November 2015.

Description of the measure

From 1 November 2015:

  • State and territory funded infant health clinics will continue to provide health assessments for young children
  • General practitioners will continue to have the option of providing health assessments under Medicare general consultation items
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children will continue to be eligible for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health assessment every nine months under MBS item 715

Questions and answers

Who will be affected by this measure

Some children aged between 3 and 5 years of age will be affected by this measure. They will no longer have their health assessment under the Healthy Kids Check.
