About the scheme
The STEM ICT scheme is for Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics graduates who are interested in designing, developing and delivering digital services to Australians.
The scheme runs for 6 months and you start at the APS 5 classification level. At the end of the 6 months you will be offered a permanent position at the APS 5 classification level. The scheme includes a probation period of 6 months. This applies to non-APS employees and APS employees who are changing roles and need to finish their probation period. Your starting salary will be $69,699.
Your work experience and qualifications will determine which of the range of STEM roles you will be placed in. You can discuss your preferences at the interview stage.
Part of your role will involve participating in innovation design workshops and accessing specialist training, including internationally recognised certifications in SAP, HANA, JAVA and Microsoft.
We have positions in Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra. Roles vary across locations and you must nominate which locations you prefer when you apply.
The following roles are available.
As a Business Analyst you’ll play a central role in aligning the needs of business units with the capabilities delivered by information technology or business activities. You may serve as a translator between different stakeholder groups and between business units.
You will analyse and integrate information provided by a large number of customers, staff, ICT professionals, executives, customers and external stakeholders. You’ll understand the core needs and requirements of stakeholders and the department.
As a Data Specialist you’ll work with a range of different data specifications and will analyse and match scenarios using data management tools. You will support the control of data management processes and perform administrative, technical and customising tasks in the data environment.
As a Developer you will analyse, develop, enhance, integrate, review, test, maintain, and document custom components in support of business and technical requirements.
As an Infrastructure Engineer you’ll provide support for procurement and deployment of hardware, hardware related software and other related assets. You’ll provide support when infrastructure related incidents and problems occur.
As a Project Officer you will manage and coordinate various activities, contribute to project reporting, monitor expenditure and identify risks, issues and benefits. You’ll provide advice and ensure project outputs are delivered consistently.
You will provide high level procedural, administrative and operational support to a work area to support project delivery.
As a Security Administrator you will support the creation and operational maintenance of system roles, access authorisations and issue resolution and security profiles.
You’ll support the cyber security position and report deficiencies. You will perform and manage threat and vulnerability analysis, including penetration testing. You will also analyse cyber security events, assist with alerts and notifications and maintain records.
As a Service Desk Analyst you’ll support end users through incident management and service request processes. You will accurately record, update, close and resolve incident and service records.
As a Solution Architect you will support the configuration of new functional solutions and provide ongoing support for ICT solutions. You’ll be responsible for assisting the design and optimisation of enterprise wide deployment of ICT technology solutions.
You’ll understand our ICT product offerings and their ability to work with other components. You will also have a sound understanding of interface technology.
As a Solution Designer you’ll support the configuration of new functional solutions and provide ongoing support for ICT solutions. You’ll be responsible for assisting the design and optimisation of enterprise wide deployment of ICT technology solutions.
As a Support Engineer you’ll support incident, problem management and service request processes. You will identify, record, update and close incident and problem records. You will also capture resolutions and knowledge in our ICT Service Management System.
You will use in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice to service desk staff and help them further develop their ICT literacy and skills.
As a Test Engineer you will ensure your test effort is effectively executed and allocated activities are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines.
