We work with multicultural organisations to identify referral opportunities, and link culturally and linguistically diverse people with services beyond the scope of the department.
We provide translated information about Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support payments and services, in written, audio and video format. See the range of information in your language for community organisations.
We provide language support services in our service centres and on the phone. Free interpreter services are available in our service centres to help people when they visit us.
We have regular rostered interpreters in many of our service centres where demand for assistance in certain languages is high. We also have a national register of interpreters covering 230 languages who provide on-site or telephone interpreting services.
We also provide free translation of documents needed by people to access our payments and services.
Our national multilingual phone service lets people who get Centrelink payments and services, speak with skilled bilingual service officers.
People who need interpreting services for Medicare or Child Support should call the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National).
