On 3 December, we celebrate the 25th International Day for People with Disability.
This day is all about improving public awareness and acceptance of people with disability and celebrating their achievements and contributions.
This year’s theme is transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all. It aims to break down barriers for 4.3 million Australians living with disability.
We’re committed to delivering better access and services, to support people, communities and our staff with disability. Our commitment is outlined in our protocol for engaging people with disability.
We support people with illness, injury or disability to become active participants in the community through:
- payments and services we deliver
- specialist employment programs such as Disability Employment Services and the Dandelion Programme
- our specialist staff such as Indigenous and Multicultural Service Officers who work directly with people with disability, their carers and community organisations
We’re also proud to celebrate and share the inspiring stories of our nine Disability Champions and how they achieve their goals.
You can get involved in celebrations in your local area. Go to the International Day of People with Disability website to find out what’s happening near you.
