Early release of super for your patients is moving to the ATO

14 June 2018

From 1 July 2018, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will run early release of super on compassionate grounds.

Your patients may be eligible to apply for early release of super based on compassionate grounds. They may need to pay for medical treatment not available through the public health system or travel to medical treatment.

Super can only be accessed early on compassionate grounds to pay for unpaid costs.

If your patients are ready to apply now, they can apply with us. They need to apply online through myGov before 30 June 2018. You can use our report by registered medical practitioner form to support their application.

From 1 July 2018, your patients need to submit their applications to the ATO. Information on how to apply with the ATO is available on the ATO website.
