New MBS items for a heart health assessment
8 April 2019
Please note the new MBS items for heart health assessment services.
New MBS items for heart health assessment services were introduced on 1 April 2019.
The 2 new items are:
- item 177 – for non-vocationally recognised medical practitioners
- item 699 – for general practitioners.
These items are for services for your patients who have or are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
You can perform a heart health assessment for your patient once in a 12 month period.
You’ll need to wait 12 months to perform a heart health assessment for your patient if they’ve had health assessments under items 701-715 or 224-228.
