A payment to help patients manage incontinence

The Continence Aids Payments Scheme can help your patients

news item

You can help your patients with severe and permanent incontinence to claim the payment. Your patient needs to complete the payment application form, and ask you to complete the health report.

The Continence Aids Payment Scheme can help with the cost of incontinence products. Your patient (if eligible) can choose to get the payment as one lump sum made in July or in 2 payments made in July and January.

You may also work with your patient on a continence management plan. This will help them manage their incontinence in daily life.

It’s important your patient lets us know when their circumstances change. For example, if they’ve had surgery to treat their incontinence. Or if they’re getting help through the NDIS or moved to an aged care home receiving a high level of care. If they don’t tell us, we may overpay them and they will need to pay the money back.
