Register as a vaccination provider

Apply to become a recognised vaccination provider on the Australian Immunisation Register.

Medical practitioners, midwives or nurse practitioners with a Medicare provider number

If you’re a medical practitioner, midwife or nurse practitioner with a Medicare provider number, you’re:

  • automatically a recognised vaccination provider, and
  • authorised to record or get immunisation data on the AIR.

We’ll be turning off your individual authentication file in the near future and you’ll need a PRODA account to access the AIR.

If you already have a PRODA account, you don’t need to create another one. You can use PRODA to access the AIR site now.

Read about accessing AIR using HPOS.

Medical practices

Medical practice staff can only use their practice’s AIR provider number to access the AIR site using an authentication file.

Your practice can apply to become a recognised vaccination provider. This will give you and your staff access to the AIR site through a practice authentication file.

You should register now if your practice isn’t yet registered.

Complete the Australian Immunisation Register - Application to register as a vaccination provider form and send it directly to us. When we get the form, we’ll give your practice an AIR provider number. Use this number when you send immunisation details to the AIR.

Other vaccination providers

If you’re not a medical practitioner, midwife or nurse practitioner with a Medicare provider number, you can apply to become a recognised vaccination provider.

Complete the Australian Immunisation Register - Application to register as a vaccination provider form and send it to your state or territory health department for approval. When we get the approved form, we’ll give you an AIR registration number to show you’re a vaccination provider.

Use this number when you send immunisation details to the AIR.
