Approved suppliers supply pharmaceutical benefit items or repatriation benefit items from a properly written prescription.

In urgent cases, you can supply a medicine before you have the written prescription. A prescriber may tell you the details of the prescription by phone or face-to-face. They may also fax you the written, signed prescription. The prescriber must give you the original written prescription later.

You’re responsible for making entries on prescription record forms patients show you.

Private and public hospitals can use a medication chart for prescribing medications. Read more about the PBS hospital medication chart.
