Quality Improvement Incentive

The Quality Improvement (QI) Incentive is a payment to general practices that participate in quality improvement activities to improve patient outcomes and deliver best practice care.

You can get more information about the PIP Quality Improvement Incentive, including the Guidelines, the PIP Eligible Data Set Data Governance Framework, and the ten Improvement Measures on the Department of Health website.

How to apply for the Quality Improvement Incentive

Participating practices that access PIP through PRODA can follow these steps to apply for the QI Incentive: 

  • Log on to PRODA
  • Log on to HPOS (select HPOS from your linked services)
  • Select My Programs
  • Go to the PIP tile
    • If you don’t have the PIP tile, but your practice owner or authorised contact does, they can link your PRODA Registration Authority (RA) number to PIP
    • Or, you may call the Practice Incentives Program
  • Select the Update button
  • If you have multiple practices displaying, select the relevant practice
  • If a PIP - information screen appears, then select the Exit button at the bottom of the screen
  • Look for the Main menu (top-left hand side of screen), and select Incentive summary
  • In the Quality Stream section > Quality Improvement Incentive, select the Apply link
  • Read the terms and conditions
  • Select the Participation Payment option
  • Select Submit.

If you’re a general practice that already participates in PIP, but you don’t have a PRODA account, you must follow the below steps to apply for the QI Incentive:

  • Register for a PRODA account
  • You’ll get an email containing your PRODA Registration Authority (RA) number
  • Call the Practice Incentives Program on 1800 222 032 so we can link your RA number to your PIP practice profile
  • Log on to PRODA
  • Log on to HPOS (select HPOS from your linked services)
    • You may need to select the HPOS tile to link this to your service, if you didn’t select HPOS at the time of registering for PRODA
  • Select My Programs
  • Go to the PIP tile
  • Select the Update button
  • If a PIP - information screen appears, then select the Exit button at the bottom of the screen
  • Look for the Main menu (top-left hand side of screen), and select Incentive summary
  • In the Quality Stream section > Quality Improvement Incentive, select the Apply link
  • Read the terms and conditions
  • Select the Participation Payment option
  • Select Submit.
