Calculating the SWPE value

The SWPE value of a practice is the sum of the fractions of care provided to practice patients, weighted for the age and of each patient.

Calculation of payments

PIP payments are generally based on a measure of the practice size, known as the Standardised Whole Patient Equivalent (SWPE) value.

Types of payments

There are 3 types of payments under PIP.

When PIP payments are made

To qualify for payments, practices must be participating in the PIP and meet the eligibility requirements of the incentives at a point in time date.

PIP Online

Lets participating practices manage their information and involvement in the PIP. Practices can access PIP Online through HPOS.

Linking your RA number to your practice profile

Link your PRODA account to your practice to access Practice Incentives Program (PIP) Online or Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP) Online.

Participating in Health Care Homes

Practices participating in the Health Care Homes trial must already be in the Practice Incentive Program (PIP) eHealth Incentive.
